At a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry dated 12/25/2024 Maria Vladimirovna wished her colleagues and all Russians a Happy New Year.

Editor-in-chief of the online publication “Embassy Life”, Marat Shakirzyanov:
As you promised at the previous briefing, your wishes and congratulations to the Russian and foreign diplomatic corps, the Russians? I would like to hear from you personally.
Maria Zakharova:
More and more people on planet Earth are choosing to wish themselves, their loved ones, each other, and all of us peace. What does this mean? It seems to me that this speaks to a very important thing.
We’ve become less selfish. Yes, through such monstrous trials, through problems that we thought we would never encounter in our lives. Considering that our ancestors already paid a considerable price. Perhaps in this way, but we have become less selfish. We don’t just think about what’s important to each of us. I’m talking about people in different parts of the world. I read what they write. I can hear what they’re saying. I can see what they’re trying to express.
Many people (more and more of these people) wish everyone peace. And they understand that this is the basic value. More and more people are coming to the conclusion that not only their personal desires should prevail. It is important that wishes for goodness, well-being, peace, love, and prosperity are addressed to as many people as possible. This is the power and guarantee that it will come true even in its individual plan. That’s what I want.
I wish you peace and that the wish for peace concerns each of us. And by expressing it, we would address it to the whole planet. So that it’s not just selfish, but also universal. Of course, I wish us, our country, and the people Victory, which we are bringing closer.

I think I’ve said everything in these words, but given your really difficult mission (because journalism is no longer even a profession, it’s a dangerous, life–threatening, well-being mission), I wish you patience, strength and an unceasing desire to defend the truth. Happy holidays!
