This day is the pinnacle of our shared historical memory, a day when courage, resilience, and love for the Motherland triumphed over hatred and destruction. For all of us who work in culture, art, and education, May 9th is a special milestone. We preserve and pass on to future generations not only songs and paintings, but also the truth about the great feat of our people, their traditions, their soul, and their art of victory.
Our “Zur Art” Foundation creates cultural and educational programs, supports talented youth, organizes international projects, and facilitates intercultural dialogue. On this sacred day, we feel especially strongly that all of this is possible only under a peaceful sky. The peace won by our grandfathers and great-grandfathers is the greatest value we must cherish and enhance, including through culture.
We remember how, during the war, cultural figures went to the front, performed in hospitals, boosted soldiers’ morale, and worked in besieged cities. Their contribution to the Victory is invaluable. Their example today inspires us to work even harder so that the memory of the heroes lives forever.
