Svetlana Malinina, Press Secretary of the CIS Secretary General and Head of the Press Service of the CIS Executive Committee, congratulated the readers of the Online publication Embassy Life.
Dear authors and readers of the online publication “Embassy Life”!
The outgoing year in the Commonwealth of Independent States was held under the chairmanship of the Russian Federation. During this time, not a little has been done. Contributions have been made to enhancing the activities of the CIS, deepening integration processes, work has been carried out to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the CIS countries, and a number of important documents have been adopted. More than 150 diverse events were held, including meetings of the Supreme Bodies of the Commonwealth. This year was declared the year of the Volunteer Movement in the CIS. In 2024, Samarkand (Republic of Uzbekistan) became the cultural capital, Tashkent (Republic of Uzbekistan) became the youth capital, and Gyumri (Republic of Armenia) became the sports capital. The year was full of events aimed at expanding educational, cultural, and scientific contacts.
There are many bonds that unite us in the Commonwealth. One of the most important is our Russian language. The language of the Commonwealth. As well as culture. And, of course, a shared Victory. Following the results of the summit, which was held in Moscow in October 2024, the leaders of the CIS member states adopted a separate appeal to the peoples of their countries and to the world community in connection with the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. In it, the leaders urge to prevent the revival of fascism, Nazism, and militarism and to stop attempts to unleash a new world war.
The year 2025 has been declared in the CIS as the Year of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War – the Year of Peace and Unity in the Fight against Nazism. There are many events planned related to this event.
The coming year 2025 will be held in the Commonwealth under the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan. The cultural capital will be the city of Lachin (Republic of Azerbaijan), the youth capital – Gabala (Republic of Azerbaijan), and the sports capital – Ganja (Republic of Azerbaijan) – the III CIS Games will be held there.
Active work awaits us in 2025. The CIS will continue to strengthen as an integration association forming a single space in the economic, social, humanitarian, and political spheres.
